Do you have Olympic fever? Are you excited as you watch TV coverage of the figure skating events?

To help you celebrate this thrilling time, we’ve put together some creative crafts and recipes that will further incite your Olympic spirit and love of skating. All of these crafts and recipes will be fun to make solo or with friends and family and will liven up any Olympic viewing party! (Young skaters may need a helping hand, especially with anything involving a glue gun.)

 FESTIVE FOOD AND SWEET TREATS

 

Olympic Torch Cupcakes

You’ll need:

  • Cake Mix
  • Ice Cream Cones
  • Frosting
  • Toothpicks
  • Fruit Roll-ups
  • Yellow Food Coloring

Directions: Prepare cake mix. Place ice cream cones in a baking dish with high sides, such as a bread or loaf pan. Spoon cake mix into ice cream cones until 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Let cool. Mix yellow food coloring into frosting. Pipe on frosting (using 1 M wilton tip). Cut fruit roll-up into a flame-like shape. Wrap around toothpick to get it to stick up like a flame.

CREATIVE CRAFTS

 

 

Olympic Torch

You’ll need:

  • A piece of gold metallic poster board
  • Double-sided adhesive
  • Assorted colored tissue paper (red, yellow, orange and gold)

To assemble, roll poster board into a tight cone shape; secure with double-sided adhesive.
Inside the cone, make several vertical lines with the double-sided adhesive.
Insert tissue at various lengths to mimic flames.
