2020 ISI Winter Classic Overall Team Champion: Tampa Bay Skating Academy (TBSA) Countryside

Almost 600 competitors representing 24 teams from 13 states participated in the 2020 ISI Winter Classic, Feb. 28 — March 1 at Tampa Bay Skating Academy in Oldsmar, Fla.

Tampa Bay Skating Academy (TBSA) Countryside went home with the Robert Unger Trophy as the Overall Team Champion. Ice Sports Forum earned 2nd place, followed by Tampa Bay Skating Academy Oldsmar in 3rd place.

K Lynn Skating School won the Percentage Trophy, awarded to the team with five or more skaters that does not place in the top five overall and gets the highest point percentage per skater.

The Skating Club of Johnstown was presented with the Board of Directors Trophy, which is given to the team of one to 10 skaters that accumulates the most team points and does not place in the top five teams overall.

Skating Club of Greater Youngstown earned the President’s Award, given to the team with 11 to 35 skaters that accumulates the most points and does not place in the top five teams overall.

“The event was as busy as we anticipated,” said ISI Skating Programs & National Events Director Kim Hansen. “The 2,383 performances over the three days made for some long but fun hours, and the rinks were both full from the early mornings well into the evenings.  The final day of team events was exciting as all of the teams really went out of their way on props and costumes and for some, this experience was a first,  which was fun to see.  We had six national referees at the event and they worked very hard all weekend long.”
