ISI Winter Classic Best Way to Kick Off the New Year!
by Eileen Viglione
What’s the best way to kick off the new year? ISI Winter Classic, of course! And our 2024 event will be hard to resist, especially if sunshine and flip flops in February sound dreamy to you.
Winter Classic is headed back to a popular destination, renowned for making magical memories that last a lifetime — Florida’s Greater Orlando area! The competition takes place Feb. 16-18 at Orlando Ice Den— yes, the home rink of legendary ISI skater and U.S. junior pairs champion Timmy Chapman 😊 — and offers the full range of ISI individual and team events for skaters of all ages and skill levels. The test and entry deadline is Dec. 20. Register.
The state-of-the-art Orlando Ice Den features two ice sheets, a full-service pro shop, concessions stand, locker rooms and seating for 500 spectators. It is the practice facility for the Orlando Solar Bears, an affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, and home of University of Central Florida’s club hockey team. The beautiful arena is part of a massive sports facility that includes indoor pools, racquetball courts, outdoor tennis courts and pickleball courts and more.
Since there’s no shortage of fun things to do in the Sunshine State and its capital city of Orlando, Winter Classic provides the perfect opportunity to fulfill your passion for skating and your need for a fun winter getaway.
While Orlando is definitely the epicenter of the world’s best theme parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove, LEGOLAND Florida Resort and more), it’s also bursting with a vibrant downtown area, unique outdoor adventures, diverse shopping options, magnificent museums and art galleries, award-winning restaurants and all sorts of fabulous family activities. It’s also close to Cocoa Beach, known as the surf capital of the East Coast, and the Kennedy Space Center, both situated along Florida’s Space Coast. Cool fact: The Space Coast is one of the top nesting places in North America for loggerhead, leatherback and green turtles.
It’s not surprising that Orlando is America’s most-visited destination.
